Mary Newman Evans, M.Sc.
SRA Senior Associate 

Mary Newman Evans brings over 25 years of corporate communications and reporting experience to her clients delivering a broad range of goal-oriented strategic corporate communication advice and counsel, brand and reputation strategies and communications planning, media and crisis communications training, writing and project management services. A Stakeholder Research Senior Associate, she is a passionate advocate of corporate stewardship, transparency and stakeholder communications. Mary brings a particular interest and expertise in strategic communications in the area of corporate social responsibility including corporate disclosure and reporting strategies. She has an established track record of developing and implementing CSR/CSR reporting strategies for "inaugural" reporters and working in partnership with her clients to embed and mature their CSR and reporting cultures within their organizations.

Current and past clients of her practice, M-E Strategic Communications Inc., include: Kinross Gold Corporation, MTS Allstream, Advertising Standards Canada, Burlington Hydro, Concrete Design, Drysdale, Forstner and Hamilton, Canadian Fertilizer Institute, Hydro One Inc., Voisey's Bay Nickel Company, the former Inco Limited, Falconbridge Limited and Stelco Inc.

Prior to establishing M-E Strategic Communications in 1998, Mary held the positions of Manager, Corporate Communications for Noranda Forest Inc. where she spearheaded the publication of the first non-financial report (Environment Report) published by a publicly traded company in Canada. She served as a Public Affairs Consultant at Advance Planning and Communications. She holds a M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, London, U.K. and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario. She is a past member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute and a past member of the International Association of Business Communicators, Canadian Women in Communications and the Canadian Council of Public Affairs. She has been a guest lecturer on  "how to do" CSR reporting.
